"You Got It And I Want It" - Andre Williams (Ric
Tic 124a)
There had been no Golden World13, no Ric-Tic13 and no Wingate13.
Superstitious to say the least.
Wingate014 was the follow-up to Hank Marr's "White House Groove"
and was typical of the unique sound of the great Andre Williams. The song was
titled "Loose Juice".
On year later, "You Got It And I Want It", was released on
Ric Tic124.
Andre had moved to Detroit from Chicago in the fifties and joined
up with Jack and Devora Brown at Fortune.
There he recorded two classic songs in "Bacon Fat" and "Jail
Bait".
The former was one of the Fortune's first recordings on Third
Street.
In a relatively short stay at Golden World, Andre also wrote and
produced for Gino Parks, J.J. Barnes, and Laura Lee. The songs crept out as flip
sides, however. He did, however, co-write and produce the Dramatic's novelty
song "Inky Dinky Wang Dang Do"
A move back to Chicago saw him work with Alvin Cash at Mar-V-Lus.
