music : ""The Teacher" - The Falcons (United Artists 229a)
With Flick Publishing listed
on the Bumble Bee 45's, one would have thought that the record label would have
sported the same address on Ryan.
However, early issues show
that it was actually based at 18424 Gallagher, which is half a mile from Jackpot
studios.
So Ron's theory regarding the
Ryan addresses sounds good and perhaps the Gallagher address was Robert's home
at that time.
Whatever the background, the
label would make a stunning debut with another Falcon's record, "You're so
fine".
Featuring the same line from
two years earlier, it was written by Finnie and Schofield and sold well locally
before being picked up by United Artists subsidiary UnArt.
UnArt2013 was released on 6th
April 1959 and achieved Pop #17 and R&B #2.
It is now a BMI award winning
song.
When Flick003 was issued, the
label was now shown to be operating from the B&H Distribution address at 3959
Woodward Avenue.
A new backing group also
emerged in the form of the Sax Kari Orchestra, who supported Carrol Carter on
"Chains on my heart".

Saxton Kari was a prolific
songwriter with 339 credits on BMI. His recording career spanned more that
thirty years, during which time he worked in Chicago, Detroit and New Orleans.
He was also a multi talented
musician who was at home whether arranging, producing, song writing or even
engineering.
Sadly, nothing is known of
Carrol Carter.
Sax Kari was also responsible
for another three Flick 45's. All by the Minor Chords, they were either fronted
by Charles Henderson, Sunnie Elmo or on their own. The "Let me" track, with
Sunnie Elmo, is a nice ballad in doo-wop style.
The Minor Chords would also
have one more 45 issued later on West's Lupine label.
